Research at Iowa State University’s Southeast Research Farm (SERF) includes the evaluation of undrained, conventional drainage, shallow drainage, and controlled drainage across corn and soybean plots. This site is located in southeastern Iowa on silty clay loam soils. Management of water control structures have included removing boards in mid-April prior to planting. Boards are then reinstalled after planting and maintained throughout the growing season.
